Plastic Bags? NO, Thanks!

"Every time we use a new plastic bag they go and get more petroleum from the Middle East and bring it over in tankers," said Stephanie Barger, executive director of Earth Resource Foundation in Costa Mesa, California. "We are extracting and destroying the Earth to use a plastic bag for 10 minutes."
Some 13 billion plastic bags a year are given away in Britain, of which eight billion end up in landfill. Othe
rs get blown away and end up in the sea.
Once let loose into the environment, plastic bags can suffocate or slowly kill wildlife mistaking the bag for food.
HAPPY NEWS: We don't need plastic bags! Reuse the ones you have at home, if you forget, simply keep one or two in your bag or in your car. Buy or make
one yourself with fabrics from old clothes.

Whoops,
Looks like that research got it wrong, the plastic mentioned in the actual research was mostly fishing nets and fishing tackle, not plastic bags. Just another failure of the environmentalist in doing actual research other than running off at the mouth.
Now, I'm no fan of plastic bags, even recyclable plastic bags, but not because they kill sea animals, because they simply don't. We own over 20 reusable grocery bags and if those get filled on shopping day we only accept paper bags. Living greem is definitely the smarter choice, both for the Earth and wallet in my opinion, but it would certainly be nice if the Enviros out there running their mouths would actually come through for once, they failed with the Ozone Layer, Global Warming, oh yeah, that argument has been defeated if you haven't noticed how the tide has turned, and now the evils of plastic bags.
Enviros would do a much better service to all of us if they'd begin using actual unbiased scientific data rather than sheer emotion or political greed in their efforts.
